Michael
Thanks so much for having me. I’m happy to come by and jump my office and so we want to talk about an event today. We’re getting to be able to do our first running event this year. We always want to be able to partner with somebody to give back I mean, having a company and being able to just want to be able to give back and so we partner before with Montgomery County Chairman because he was one of the main sponsors for Georgia and so they’re able to with all the funds to be able to raise enough money to get a counselor and a couple other things and advocacy programs they have. And so we’ve wanted to adopt them as well for this event. We wanted to give at least 20% of the proceeds to them for this event. So whatever we raised 20% of those out of the 10 runs that we’re going to be able to do will continue with for people to partner with a partner we have to be able to get back in fitness and community is so important, right?
And so with these events, you can have a lot of community awareness. So we love to have like hospital systems that will partner with us to be able to bring the medical part of it as well you know, to be able to give you know, free events such as you know, testing your blood glucose and your blood pressure and those type of things. And so we definitely have sponsors to come help us out with them. And as a networker, it is core. Those events are opportunities for you or near just runners or folks or watchers to connect with those facilities in a casual setting, which is kind of valuable.
And there are so many services out there that people are not aware of.
There’s a lot of stuff that Montgomery County actually has to get out there and do recreational sports. I’m sure people are aware of it. Yeah. And it’s not that far away. You know, you’re not driving to DC and you definitely can use the daybreak app to do sports with just being able to plant some roots here and be able to have the community understand like, what is there to offer for outdoor activities. And sports. And so one way to do it is just running with anybody.
Jeff
Now tell me some specifics about the running of it. A few fans of the studio are long-distance runners, but do you have a short run for guys like me? Do you have a long run to walk or whatever? You know, give me the elevator speech.
Michael
Yeah, since it’s our first run. We did 5k Just to keep it short. And it’s like a fun run, walk. We’ll have a time we’ll have chips we’ll still have shirts to come out. We have a few sponsor areas. We’ll have a moon jump for kids that are gonna be able to be there. So restoration churches partner north with us today.
Jeff
I remember the 5k That’s if I’m not totally mistaken. That’s a little more than three miles.
Michael
Yeah, so just a little bit over and so we’re gonna go over some of them. Our goal we want to be able to have is about 500 runners right now we’re at 75.
Jeff
Okay, so typically, what I’ve been told from other running organizations is that the majority of the push comes in at the last very last week and that stuff, yeah, well, we’ll certainly do our best with this episode to promote it. And also reach out to our network. We reached out to run groups, and they all say the same thing. Usually the last few weeks of last month, we have a big influx of people. I used to have to factor in like everybody has to have a shirt or maybe a chip, depending on your race, whatever.
Michael
Yeah, exactly. So for us, it’s just it’s our first event, so we’re gonna we’re just gonna learn from it. We’re gonna have Dance and Fitness out there, we’ll have a DJ and a warm-up, so it’s gonna be a lot of fun. We’ll have a couple of representatives from the State Park as well.
Jeff
Well, Michael, thank you so much. You can just go to fit rec.com and go to
Launch. We’ll go ahead and give it to all the listeners 15% off. You’re always welcome here and especially when we’re talking about community events, and networking events, shout out to everybody who is listening!
