Launch Workplaces is pleased to welcome Laurie Wiggins, CEO from Sysenex, Inc. to our Tysons location. As a member of the Start Ups Ignite Center for Entrepreneurship at Launch in Tysons, Sysenex helps organizations assess the risk of projects with its proprietary Program Risk ID solution and methodology. It also provides operational due diligence for Mergers and Acquisitions, a necessary step for both buyers and sellers. Sysenex helps companies understand their risks to gain a competitive edge.
The Virginia Tech graduate, who comes from a family of entrepreneurs, started her business in 2012. The company name stands for “systems engineer expert.” It started out of the frustration Laurie personally experienced as a systems engineer for 19 years at an aerospace firm. She saw many programs fail there unnecessarily and realized that if they had the ability to anticipate problems and fix them early on, the company could have saved a lot of money, stress and time. She truly wanted to develop a way to help avoid these problems. Risk management principles are useful at the corporate level as well as for projects. Indeed, by working with Laurie, organizations can understand their risks and opportunities for increased growth and profitability.
Laurie loves coming to work every day at Launch Workplaces because each customer is different and it’s exciting to use her tool and methodologies to uncover secrets and hidden value for them. “With the M&A market, the strengths and weaknesses in target organizations must be understood to help guide prospective buyers to a decision,” explains Laurie. “And the market here in DC is exciting because we have technology, health care, pharma, and medical device companies being bought and sold,” she says further.
Laurie is a member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and the Association for Corporate Growth. Her advice to other entrepreneurs starting out is, “Do your market research. Spend time understanding the customer’s needs before you build your product.”
