Clean Energy Firm Chooses Launch Workplaces for First Maryland Site
Launch Workplaces is pleased to welcome a new member to the Gaithersburg office, Y&S Ventures! Meet Ms. Judy Wang and Mr. Hewitt Hsiao, two employees who moved to Montgomery County, MD from Virginia to open the company’s Maryland office. Judy, the Finance Manager, will be analyzing the markets and connecting with investors. Hewitt, who is a Product Manager for the battery line, will be searching for new markets for their products. Both employees recently graduated from the MBA program at the University of William and Mary in Virginia.
Y&S Ventures, or Yick Shun High-Tech Investment, Inc., is a subsidiary of YES! Clean Energy Group, a cooperation of different companies, both foreign and domestic, that work together to design and produce clean energy technology to promote sustainable development on a global scale. The mission of Y&S Ventures is to discover and identify early opportunities within the clean energy industry through scientific research and provide financial support to commercialize technological products and services. The Maryland office was opened to take advantage of business connections already made in the area by Y&S Ventures General Manager, Xin Zhao.
Because Y&S Ventures is a startup, its employees have gained experience regarding what it takes for a new company to be successful. For example, Judy has learned that, “leadership is very important when working as a startup. No one will tell you what to do; you must believe in yourself and take necessary actions so others will follow you.” Aside from leadership, Hewitt believes that networking is important “so you can share ideas with people and potentially share resources.”
